Toyota van scoops industry award

A van built by Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK at its Derbyshire factory has scooped a top industry award.

The Toyota Corolla Commercial was recently named Small Van of the Year at the Great British Fleet Awards.

Based on the Corolla Hatchback passenger car, the Corolla Commercial was launched last year and is the only full-hybrid electric van on the UK market.

John Kendall, editor of Van Fleet World, which organised the awards, said: “The Corolla Commercial Hybrid has already found a ready market among fleets carrying light loads.

“It’s also a British success story, built and converted at Toyota’s Burnaston facility near Derby.

“It’s well-equipped, easy to drive and offers a realistic 60mpg at petrol, not diesel prices.

“And a revised model has already been launched offering even lower fuel consumption.”
