Derby City Lab to host children’s book drop
As part of Derby Book Festival, the Derby City Lab is set to host a children’s book drop.
The venue, in St James’ Street, will be accepting previously loved but now unwanted books, ideally for under sevens, from Tuesday 23 May to Friday 26 May, from 12noon to 4pm each day.
The donated books, which need to be in good condition, will then be distributed via local schools, nurseries and libraries to families who need them.
One of the key aims of the Derby Book Festival, which runs 19 to 27 May, is to encourage a new generation of readers.
However, not every child in the city is lucky enough to have books at home or to regularly visit the city’s libraries.
Sian Hoyle, festival director, said: “We hope you can help to enable us to give every child in the city a book at home to cherish.”
