Relocation to boost social care workforce
YMCA Derbyshire has announced that it is relocating its early years, health and social care study programmes to a Derby children’s nursery.
YMCA Derbyshire Key College currently delivers the courses from its site in Osmaston Road.
However, from 28 August, the Key College will relocate to Derwent Stepping Stones, in St Mark’s Road, in the Derwent area of the city.
The new partnership aims to support both organisations in realising their aspiration to grow the early years and health and social care workforce.
Key College will continue to provide a range of accredited full-time education for young people aged 16 to 18, and, if the student has an Education Health and Care (EHC) plan, up to the age of 24 in some instances.
Gillian Sewell, chief executive of YMCA Derbyshire, said “Our partnership with Derwent Stepping Stones is going from strength to strength, and the opportunity to relocate our Key College provision from our current Osmaston Road site is really positive step for both organisations.
“The training centre facilities, which were purpose built for supporting training and development of local people, will offer a really positive, safe, accessible learning environment for our Key College learners.”
