Denby Launches New Products in Korea
Derbyshire ceramics firm and Marketing Derby Bondholder, Denby Pottery, has reported it is expecting to sell more than a million rice bowls and plates to South Korea this year.
Design director, Richard Eaton, visited Korea last summer to find that people were buying Denby items in department stores. Last year the company sold 776,000 bespoke pieces to Korea and the company is launching five new items this year. Denby also sells ceramics across the Far East, Asia, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
Denby now sells 15 specific items for South Korea in six different colours since different coloured bowls are assigned to certain food types. These include noodle bowls, a deep tea plate and a cup and saucer – smaller than a typical UK version. This year the company is also launching a chopstick rest, a rimmed bowl and a set of five nesting bowls.
