Animal charity launches poetry competition
RSCPA Derby and District has teamed up with a well-known local poet to launch a poetry competition for youngsters.
The charity, which runs the Abbey Street animal rehoming centre, has partnered with award-winning poet Jamie Thrasivoulou for its Paws for Pets poetry competition.
It challenges young poets, aged seven to 18, to write an original poem, in any style, based on the five welfare needs of pets.
Each category winner will have their poem read by Jamie in a video shared on our social media and website – and there will be prizes for each of the three category winners and runners-up.
The competition closes on Friday 30 June, with Jamie helping to choose the best entries.
Entrants must be signed up to the competition by an adult. For more information about the competition, including how to enter, visit https://www.rspcaderby.org.uk/poetry-competition .
